Added Touches to the Cabin

As we spent a few days getting our cabin

ready for the Home Show,

we couldn't help but notice all the nice

added touches. Some are our efforts and

others are gifts and help from other people.

We spend many peaceful hours

on the swing Kim & Steve

gave Ron for his 60th B. Day

We love everything about our cabin,

except the laundry area - no window.

So we took our door to a place that installs

windows in them and now there's light

pouring into the room. Love it!
We built these benches to go around the firepit.

Carol (Joe's Mom) bought this darling
nightlight for us. We love how the fire
flickers in the window - so cute!

We noticed a lot of bird

droppings on our deck, so we

placed this owl here and it

really seems to help.

The only problem is

in the wind, his head spins,

so we call it our Exorcist Owl.

This is a beautiful blanket from Pendleton
Woolen Mills that Don & Noel bought us.
We love it and it looks so cabiny.

that Kim & Steve brought back from
their excursion to Jackson Hole.
New pine tree we planted. The wildflower
seed is starting to sprout. Be glad when
everything grows so we don't look at
dirt anymore.

and Grandpa for helping with the landscaping. We
couldn't have done it without them.

We're so grateful to all those who had a hand
in making our cabin more homey & enjoyable.
It's truly been a labor of love!

WOW - ANOTHER REUNION!

We've been sooooo busy with projects,

we haven't had much time to play.

So before the next group of people came

(22 in all),

we took out some time to play a round of golf.

It was very peaceful and relaxing.

Since our good friends were so helpful

with our move to the cabin,

we told them they could have a reunion with their

kids this summer, so they took us up on it.

We forgot they had 6 kids (plus spouses)

and 8 grandkids.

It went very well though since they wouldn't

let me do any cooking or cleaning up

and when they left,

everything was immaculate.

The lake was a bit rough so we went tubing

and water weenieing. It wasn't too difficult

to give everyone an exciting ride with

the choppy water!

These guys were quite the characters.
They sure have fun together!

We survived the reunion.

After we got back I took the

grandkids to Seven Peaks.

They had a great time.

Now it's back to school!

IS IT MOOSE OR MEESE?

My daughter has been doing quite a bit of hiking lately

and is concerned about running into animals in the wild.

She knew we had spotted moose on the other side of

our ravine, but I assured her we only see them

from a distance and haven't seen them for a

couple of months.

WELL I WAS WRONG

ABOUT THAT!!!!

The moose must have got wind that we put in some

new trees in our yard that might be a bit tasty

and our sprinklers would make due as a drinking fountain.

We were quite surprised to look out our window

and see two moose in our front yard

completely stripping the leaves

off our aspen trees

and one of them picking up our rainbird

out of the ground with it's mouth and

taking a nice long sip of water.

We were pretty helpless to do anything about it

but watch and hope they

didn't cause too much damage.

Ron had to rake out their hoof prints

the next day since we just planted wild flower seeds.

Since we couldn't do anything but watch, we started making

jokes about whether to call them

Moose or Meese

since the plural of

Goose is Geese.

But we decided we'd better stick to moose.

At least they created quite a bit of excitement

to an otherwise dull evening.

Unfortunately, they showed up right at dusk

so the pictures didn't turn out. You'll have to use your imagination!

It's hard to top the excitement of the moose, but we

had another reunion at the cabin -

this time with Joe's side of the family.

These 2 have a blast together and get along so well.
Even though it didn't last long,
Berks and her friend had the sleeping area
for all the cousins set up meticulously.


Mason is the official driver to give
people rides on the 4 wheeler.
We told him he's the only
one we trust to drive it!


The new garage we're adding on -
still needs to be stained.

The weather was a bit too cold to go boating so

we stayed in a lot and played games but got out

enough so we didn't get cabin fever!

All together there were 10 adults and 8 children

and still had places for everyone to sleep,

although one night we woke up to find Mason

sleeping on the dog bed by our bed.

Baxter was curled up next to him.

We feel so fortunate and blessed to be able to

share out little piece of heaven with others.

We have a feeling we'll be creating a lot

of fun family memories over the years!
